What is Pink Ivory wood?

Pink Ivory is one of the rarest and most valuable types of African wood. Historically, this distinctive reddish wood was considered sacred and was reserved exclusively for the Zulu royal family.

Its heartwood can range from a soft ash-pink to a bright neon pink or a rich watermelon red. The sapwood is usually light yellow or light brown. The natural color transition between the sapwood and the heartwood, combined with wavy or violin-back-like patterns, gives the wood a unique visual appeal.

Pink Ivory trees grow very slowly, which is why the wood is exceptionally dense and strong, and is prized for its rich luster and exquisite grain.
